Calabar - yesterday two men were brutally hacked to death by suspected suspects in a most gruesome manner. It was gathered that the first man was killed in the early hours of the day at Etagbo /Akim Road junction close to the University of Calabar exit gate when he was hacked savagely with axes and left in a pool of his own blood where he eventually bled to death. On the same day, another was killed at about 5.00n pm along Mayne Avenue/Palm Street when a gang of six young men chased after the young man whose name was given as Emmanuel Abuchi, a native of Ohafia, Abia State, from his residence at Murray Street through several streets down to Mayne Avenue where they caught up with him.
Narrating how the incident happened an eyewitness said: "The man ran towards Mayne Avenue/Palm Street where the Quick Intervention Squad station is but when he got here they were not here and he was obviously too tired to continue to run so he jumped on a ‘Kek Napep’ but the boys caught up with him and started shooting at him and when the bullets could not enter his body, they used axes to butcher his head."
It was gathered that Abuichi was belonged to a rival cult group where he is known a “hit man”. His body was evacuated by the police from the Atakpa police station and taken to the General Hospital Calabar mortuary at about 6:18pm.
